Black Farm Land Owners Conference

J.N. Battle was a Black man born into slavery. In 1843, post-Civil War, Battle was motivated to purchase land, reportedly as much as 3000 acres of land. During the reconstruction period, Black Americans amassed thousands and eventually millions of acres of land.
