Hands on Learning at the Garden

September 5, 2023 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm EDT

According to the USDA, “small farm operations make up almost 90 percent of the nation’s farms. Despite the vital role these producers play in their communities and local, state, and national economies, small farmers often struggle to access affordable sources of financing they need.”

Our agriculture program provides individual and group-organized instruction to improve our local food system by educating young farmers and consumers in the community. Specifically, our training modules are designed for all ages to assist those in production, agriculture, and agribusiness to become successfully established or to improve their current agricultural status. Our aim is to help you improve understanding and communication between the consumer public and the agricultural community regarding common concerns and issues.

We offer a variety of planned field days, workshops, and virtual events throughout the year with topics focusing on best practices for soil amendments, seeding, and irrigation.

Futurists in Farming and Agriculture events are a great way to learn and grow with local farmers and network with peers! Each event provides prospective and current farmers exposure to the diversity of farms in the region that balances:

  • Community gardening and smaller farms
  • Organic, biodynamic, and sustainable farms
  • New and beginning young farmers
  • Farms throughout our geographic region
